The Renew Democracy Initiative (RDI) announced the winners of its high school essay contest on Monday, August 17th. The contest was launched in June as a means for high school students to engage in discourse about democracy.
Students were given the choice between answering one of the following prompts:
How should governments approach democratic values during the coronavirus crisis, and how does this impact you as a high schooler?
In 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. said: “Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy.” King called on our nation to rise “to the sunlit path of racial justice.” In 2020, how can we make real the promises of democracy?
