Chris Schaefer

Communications Manager

Chris Schaefer is the Communications Manager at Renew Democracy Initiative.

Before joining RDI, Chris managed U.S. media relations at the German Marshall Fund of the United States. Previously, he served as managing editor of Tocqueville 21, a Franco-American online magazine focused on democracy in the 21st century.

He is a graduate of the University of Cambridge, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Oklahoma. His Cambridge PhD dissertation on the International Herald Tribune and the history of international media before the internet was recently named the best doctoral dissertation in media history by the American Journalism Historians Association.
