Creative Lead (Contractor)
ABOUT THE POSITION
RDI is building a movement to renew democracy in the US and around the world through incisive commentary, thought-provoking events, direct aid to frontline communities, and cultivating unlikely alliances. We are looking for a Creative Lead to spearhead RDI’s video content network. This role is responsible for the overarching content and media strategy. In addition to managing the Frontlines of Freedom TV project, the Creative Lead will work closely with the rest of the leadership team to ensure that RDI’s broader content is compelling and effectively distributed. This role reports to the CEO and will oversee any freelance and/or digital contractors.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Work with RDI’s team to conceptualize, greenlight, and review content. Manage and grow viewership for existing content across all social media platforms.
- Develop a distribution and promotion plan for RDI’s content to maximize reach with target audiences.
- Drive growth on RDI’s social media channels measured by number of subscribers and engagement. KPIs and metrics to be determined in 30, 60, and 90-day increments in conversation with the CEO and Head of Production.
- Oversee editorial direction in consultation with the CEO and Head of Production.
- Create a positive feedback loop by reviewing video performance and making changes when appropriate.
- Define target audiences and in collaboration with the CEO and others, define KPIs, and constantly work to iterate.
- Work with the Head of Production to serve as the primary full-time point-of-contact for external vendors and freelancers involved with FOFTV and oversee the content budget.
- Support increase in video production volume by providing a strong rolodex of production companies and freelancers like creative producers, directors, videographers, etc.
- Thought partner with the CEO and others to think about how to grow the project and drive interest among viewers, partners, nonprofit funders, and investors.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 7-10 years of digital media experience required, including content strategy and knowledge around content frameworking for digital media.
- Experience with creative development that influences early stages of series conception, which leads to virality, engagement, and community building.
- Experience building social media channels from scratch and significantly increasing reach.
- Unique capacity to convey a strong point of view, and to sometimes be provocative, within RDI’s voice and aligning with our values.
- Strong understanding of what makes a strong, compelling story.
- Strong working knowledge of foreign and domestic news and issues.
- Deep knowledge of current media trends when it comes to digital content strategy for video and social media platforms.
- Impeccable editing skills and ability to communicate notes/edits effectively.
