The attack on the Capitol building on January 6, 2021 happened (in part) because of a vague law written in 1887 called the Electoral Count Act. The law, with no Constitutional basis, allows for any member of Congress to dispute the result of an election for any reason. Former President Trump used this law as a pretext to challenge the 2020 election outcome. He directed a crowd of ardent supporters to march on the Capitol to intimidate members of Congress to override the will of the voters.
They failed in 2021. But there’s no guarantee they will fail again. To defend against another January 6, we must repeal and replace this law! Congress has been very slow to move on this problem, even as many states are enacting laws that would make it easier to ignore the will of the people. We invite you to sign this petition, invite at least one friend to do the same, and urge Congress to act. We cannot take our freedom for granted anymore! As another former president said, “Freedom is never more than a generation away from extinction.”
Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
